Central heating done

March 2, 2007 at 12:01 pm (House renovation) (, , )

The central heating installation is done! All day Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in the cold, then Wednesday night last we drove to the South Coast and stayed in a swish b&b which was lovely. J spent Thursday in meetings at the office, while I got the train up to Winchester for the day. When we got back last night, the radiators were warm. Hurray! The installers were here this morning briefly for some final things (while we were in jimjams, hehehe).

It’s not quite complete (that would be too easy!). When the kitchen is getting done, we’ll have the last radiator put on and the gas pipe to the cooker repositioned.

As you can see from the photos, there were quite a few “treats” behind the old radiators. And the new boiler in the kitchen was positioned up high to go inside a wall unit, but the width and height of the pipes may make this rather difficult. Hopefully our builder will have some good suggestions. In the bottom picture, you can see where the boiler is in our filthy kitchen, and also where a lot of the electrics are only surface mounted (for now).
